Vacuum Metalizing
Vacuum metalizing is actually a paint process that was originally used on many
plastic interior parts like dashes and armrests in the 60's and 70's.
It produces a highly reflective surface
and holds up very well to normal wear and tear as well as all weather conditions.
All parts are top coated and sealed after they are rechromed with a
hardened clear finish to protect them for future use. It will not wipe or wear off when handled.
The Process
First your dash is disassembled and stripped in a chemical solution removing all old paint
and other materials deposited there over time.

After only the bare plastic remains your part is then base coated with a very thin layer of
urethane based paint and baked for about an hour at 170 degrees
The dash is then placed into a vacuum chamber where it is metalized.
Metalizing
is a process where small pieces of aluminum are vaporized in a vacuum chamber
adhering itself to the urethane base coat resulting in a mirror like chrome finish.

After metalizing, the part is then top coated with a high quality clear urethane
and baked again until it cures to a hard scratch resistant finish protecting it for future use.
Your dash is then ready for paint and detail.
It is taped off by hand and airbrushed with a top quality automotive paint
that has a great looking finish and resists fading over time.

All transactions are completed as quickly as possible
and waiting time is usually 4 to 6 weeks.
